Men's Golf Turns In Best Round of the Season

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team shot a season-low team round of 330 to finish seventh in the field of 14 at the Brett Williamson Invitational on Tuesday at Tekoa Country Club.

Michael Izzo and Nick Knisel each carded rounds of 79 to pace the Mariners. The two tied for 17th overall and finished seven shots behind the leaders; Westfield State's Kyle Fairbanks took medalist honors in a playoff while leading his team to a first-place finish (295).

David Eichelberg also had a solid round for Mitchell with an 82 on the par-71 track. Jake Hancock rounded out the team scoring with a 90 while Matt Green carded a 106 in his first collegiate action.

Mitchell will be back on the links on Wednesday, September 27 against SUNY Purchase at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, Conn.
