Golf's Gaboury Repeats as NECC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – For the second straight week, Mitchell College freshman Sam Gaboury was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's golf, as released by the league on Monday morning.

Gaboury led the Mariners to a runner-up finish at the Emmanuel College Invitational last week. He fired a five-over-par round of 75 to tie for third overall as Mitchell recorded the lowest team round (311) in its Division III history.

Gaboury owns the lowest stroke average (78.0) on the Mariners through two events this fall. He is the first Mitchell golfer to earn rookie of the week honors twice in the same season.

The Mariners will next host the Mitchell Invite II on Wednesday, September 19 at Shennecossett Golf Course. The first tee time is slated for noon.
