Gaboury Nabs NECC Weekly Honors for Fourth Time

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Sam Gaboury was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's golf, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Gaboury tied for fifth at the NECC Championship over the weekend while helping the Mariners to a third-place finish. In addition to landing a spot on the all-conference first team, he became the first Mitchell golfer to be named NECC Rookie of the Year. He is just the second Mariner to ever earn all-conference first-team status (Mike Lepore, 2008).

Gaboury garnered weekly honors for the fourth straight week. He has played in all five tournaments this season and leads the Mariners in scoring average (78.7) and top-five finishes (4).

Mitchell will next compete at the EC Saints Invite on Thursday, October 4 at noon.
