Men's Golf Sweeps NECC Weekly Honors

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College golfers were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.

Junior Nick Knisel was named NECC Golfer of the Week while freshman Michael McCarthy was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo led the Mariners to a win at the season-ending Mitchell Invite III last week.

Knisel earned the honor for the second time this season (Sept. 24). McCarthy, who was recognized for the first time, is the second Mitchell rookie to garner the distinction this season.

Knisel finished as the individual medalist at the Mitchell Invite III. His round of 76 (+5) earned him his second win of the season. He birdied two holes in his round and led the field of 14 golfers in par-3 (+1) and par-4 (+2) scoring.

McCarthy fired a round of 78 and finished third overall, his best finish of the season. His 11 pars tied for the most in the tournament.
