Golf Finishes Sixth at Brett Williamson Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team finished sixth out of nine teams at the Brett Williamson Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Tekoa Country Club.

The Mariners logged a team score of 345 on the day, their lowest total of the season. Westfield State, the tournament host, led the field with a 302 (+18) to best runner-up Rhode Island College by nine strokes.

Michael McCarthy led the charge for the Mariners with a round of 80, good enough to finish tied for 13th in the 42-man field. Nick Knisel was two shots back and tied for 16th while Michael Izzo shot 84 and tied for 21st. Christopher Ronzello rounded out the scoring with a 99 and tied for 36th.

Mitchell will next play against Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday, September 25 at New Haven Country Club.
