Golf's McLean Nabs Low Round vs. Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Mitchell College newcomer Shamus McLean took home medalist honors on Monday afternoon as the Mitchell College men's golf team squared off in a head-to-head contest against Albertus Magnus College at New Haven Country Club.

McLean posted the low round of the 10 golfers in the field, covering the 6,602-yard course in a five-over-par 75 strokes. He was the only player to break 80 on the day, as runner-up Brandon Fowler posted an 81 for the Falcons. Albertus Magnus took home the team title by two strokes.

Michael McCarthy and Nick Knisel each carded rounds of 83 for the Mariners, good enough to tie for fourth place. Jakob Margetta (96) and Nick Loris (112) rounded out the scoring for Mitchell, which posted a team score of 337.

The event served as a final tune-up for the MASCAC Championship, which will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at The Ranch Country Club in Southwick, Mass.
