Men's Golf Cracks Top 3 at MASCAC Preview

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team turned in a solid performance at the MASCAC Championship Preview on Tuesday, finishing third out of eight teams at Berkshire Hills Country Club.

The event provided a chance for teams to play the course prior to the conference championship on October 4-5. Mitchell shot 331 as a team and finished behind only Salem State University (313) and Westfield State University (322). 

Nick Knisel shot a team-low 77 in his first round of the season to tie for fifth in the field of 38. He finished only two shots back of individual medalist Matt Godbout of Salem State.

Michael McCarthy carded a round of 79 en route to a top-10 finish. Shamus McLean (85) and Jack Hayes (90) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners.

Mitchell will next compete at Eastern Connecticut State University on Thursday, September 16 at The Windham Club.
