Hayes Nabs MASCAC Golf Honors

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Jack Hayes was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Athlete and Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's golf, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.

Hayes, who is in his first season with the Mariners, posted his lowest round of the year at last week's Brett Williamson Invitational. His finished in a three-way tie for runner-up with a five-over-par round of 76.

Hayes earned both awards for the first time in his career. He shared co-athlete honors with Westfield State University's J.J. Newcombe, who also shot 76 at the Brett Williamson Invitational.  

Mitchell will next compete at the MASCAC Championship on October 4-5 at Berkshire Hills Country Club.
