Men’s Golf 2023 Schedule Announced

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team recently announced their schedule for their fall 2023 season. Entering his 11th season at the helm of the golf program, Todd Peretz will lead the team into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), after competing in the MASCAC for the previous four years.

The Mariners will kick off the fall with back to back home events at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton, Connecticut. The Mitchell Invite I will include Western Connecticut, Wentworth, and Albertus Magnus, while the Mitchell Invite II will pit the Mariners against Western Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut, and Emmanuel. The Mariners will then battle Albertus at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford, Connecticut, before traveling to Brookline Golf Course in Brookline, Massachusetts for the EC Invite.

Mitchell is back at Shennecossett on October 5th, hosting the Mitchell Invite III, then will compete in the two-day GNAC Championship held at New Haven Country Club in New Haven, Connecticut. The Mariners will wrap up their 2022 campaign the following week at Franklin Park Golf Course in Boston, Massachusetts at the Emmanuel Invitational.

The Mariners will be led by returning standing Shamus McLean. McLean, who was a MASCAC All-Conference First Team Selection in 2022, played in all eight events last fall and sported the lowest stroke average on the team at 75.3, which ranked as the lowest single season stroke average in school history.

Last season, Mitchell finished in fifth place at the MASCAC Championship, shooting a 671 as a team, 10 strokes behind fourth place New England College.
