McLean Takes Second at EC Invite

HINGHAM, Mass. – Senior Shamus McLean finished second overall on Thursday, as the Mitchell College men's golf team returned to action at the EC Invite played at South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Massachusetts, which is a par-72 and measured 6,270 yards. The four team tournament also included Albertus Magnus College, Rhode Island College, and host Emmanuel College.

McLean fired a four-over-par round of 76, pacing the Mariners and trailing only Shamar Wilson of Albertus Magnus, who earned medalist honors with a three-over-par round of 75. Senior Jack Hayes (New Milford, Conn.) also secured a top-five finish, tying Sam Witt of Albertus Magnus for fifth overall with a nine-over-par 81.

As a team, the Mariners placed fourth out of four teams, shooting a 369. This trailed the winning Falcons (318), Rhode Island College (344), and Emmanuel College (349).

Junior Micheal Thompson was the next Mariner down the leaderboard, shooting a 99 which was good for 17th place. Luke Sullivan (Shelton, Conn.) and Jackson Rappel (Fairfield, Conn.) rounded out the Mitchell participants, finishing with scores of 113 and 113 respectively.

The Mariners will return to Shennecossett Golf Course to host the Mitchell Invitational II, their final event of the regular season, on Thursday, October 5th at 12:00 pm.
