Daniel Webster Hands LAX 14-3 Defeat


NASHUA, N.H. - The Daniel Webster College men's lacrosse team powered its way to a 14-3 victory over Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon in a game played at Rivier College.

Alex McKenzie registered five goals to lead the Eagles to victory. Justin Chiulli added three goals and two assists as Daniel Webster (3-4 overall) won for the third time in its last four outings.

Shane Devaney added two goals and an assist while Fletcher Wilson scored twice. Parker Condit and Mike Jordan also potted solo scores. Tommy Driscoll was solid in goal for the Eagles, finishing with 18 saves.

Sophomore Adam Grillo led the Mariners (1-7 overall) with a goal and assist, while senior John Kearney and sophomore Chris Santapaola added single goals. Sophomore Joseph Nott made 13 saves in goal.

The Eagles jumped all over the Mariners in the first quarter, scoring six times in the opening 8:36 with McKenzie and Chiulli netting two apiece. Santapaola and Kearney ket Mitchell in the game, scoring 31 seconds apart late in the frame for a 6-2 game after one.

But the Eagles took control getting four in the second from McKenzie, Wilson, Devaney and Jordan for a 10-2 lead at the break. Daniel Webster held Mitchell scoreless until two minutes into the fourth as the lead swelled to 12-2.

Chiulli and McKenzie scored in the third quarter and McKenzie and Condit closed the game out late in the fourth for the 14-3 final.

DWC finished with a 45-35 shots advantage and added a 41-34 groundballs difference on the day.

Mitchell will next host Nichols College on Tuesday, April 20 at 4 p.m.
