GENEVA, N.Y. – The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team wrapped up its New York road swing with a 9-6 victory over Wells College on Saturday afternoon at McCooey Field on the campuses of Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Junior Demetre Lyras recorded a hat trick for the Mariners (3-1 overall) while classmate Chris Joy contributed defensively with a team-high nine ground balls. Junior Peter Eshenfelder picked up the victory in net, turning away 10 of 16 shots on goal.

Sophomore Jordan Cook scored twice in the opening 16:04 and junior David Klapp added a score to stake Mitchell to a 3-0 lead. The Express (0-3 overall) finally got on the scoreboard when Dan Schilling struck for his first goal of the season, a man-up goal, with 9:08 remaining in the second period. Freshman Dan DiGioia and Lyras later tacked on scores to put Mitchell up 6-2 at intermission.

Wells outscored the visitors by a 4-3 margin in the second half, but it wasn't enough to come all the way back. The Express got as close as 8-6 with 5:53 remaining in the contest, but freshman Aaron Sladyk answered with a goal to keep the Mariners comfortably in front.
