LAX Makes It Four in a Row at Rivier


NASHUA, N.H. -- The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to four games with a 12-7 victory over Rivier University on Wednesday night at Raider Field.

Senior Shane Sullivan led the Mariners (8-4 overall) with four goals and one assist while sophomore Dan DiGioia netted three goals and added two assists. Seniors David Klapp and Demetre Lyras tacked on two goals apiece as Mitchell outshot Rivier 39-29.

The Mariners scored the game's first three goals en route to a 4-1 lead after the opening quarter. Klapp tallied twice in the period while DiGioia and Sullivan also added markers.

Kyle Graham scored the first two goals of the second quarter as Rivier trimmed the deficit to 4-3. Lyras answered with a man-up goal to keep the Mariners in front, and Tyler Kradas added a score with 3:44 remaining in the half to pad the lead back to three.

Mitchell led 6-4 at the break and got a pair of goals from Sullivan in the third period to increase the lead to three for the final stanza. Rivier never got closer than three as DiGioia added two goals in the fourth to finish with five points on the night to tie a career high.

Goalie JD LeMay finished with eight saves in the contest.

Mitchell will next host Nichols College on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. The Mariners will honor their seven seniors prior to the match.
