Men's LAX Falls 10-3 to Lebanon Valley


NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-3 final to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday evening in a non-conference match played at Connecticut College's Silfen Field.

Koty Keefer led the Dutchmen with three goals and one assist while Alex Bushong and Austin Minnich each added a pair of scores. Dan DiGioia netted a pair of goals to pace the Mariners while Tyler Desances recorded his first career goal.

Lebanon Valley (2-1 overall) held a commanding 54-9 advantage in shots and tested Mitchell goalkeeper JD LeMay throughout. LeMay finished with 22 saves in the contest and also added four ground balls.

Keefer started the scoring just over two minutes into the game with an unassisted effort. Desances answered four minutes later, evening the score off a feed from Brian Jordan with 8:38 to play in the opening quarter. The Dutchmen pulled ahead once again on Keefer's second goal at the 5:39 mark, and Minnich closed out the stanza with a goal with 19 seconds to go.

The second quarter was all Lebanon State as Keefer completed the hat trick with 10:01 left on the clock, bringing his season goal total to eight. Baker Landon later added a man-up score, and Brett Kudlak put the Dutchmen up 6-1 heading into halftime.

Minnich tacked on his second tally early in the third quarter while Bushong potted a pair of goals in the fourth. Lebanon Valley led 10-1 before DiGioia scored twice in the final five minutes to round out the game.

Kevin Masterson faced only one shot on goal while picking up the win in goal for Lebanon Valley. Eric Wilcoxson replaced him at halftime and recorded a pair of stops over the final 30 minutes.

Mitchell (0-2 overall) will next play at the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. Lebanon Valley returns to action at Kean University on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m.
