LAX Comes Up Short at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior Brian Hancock potted four goals to lift the Nichols College men's lacrosse team to a 15-8 win over Mitchell College Thursday night in non-conference action at Vendetti Field.

Tyler Sikich added three goals and senior Michael Bane racked up four points (2-2-4) as the Bison won their second straight game and improved to 6-8 on the season. John Zaremski and Brett Stuhr each scored twice while Corey Davis dished out two assists. Mitchell's Jordan Cook and Dan DiGioia each netted a pair of goals while Brian Jordan led all players with seven ground balls.

Nichols scored the first seven goals of the game and led 9-1 at halftime. Sikich scored three straight in the first and Hancock closed the half with markers at 10:57 and 10:02, respectively.

In the second half Bane, Hancock, and Stuhr each scored in the third to send the game to the fourth with NC up 12-3. The Mariners (4-7 overall) closed the game by scoring five of the final eight goals, but it was too little, too late.

James Keane turned aside two shots to earn his sixth win of the season while Mitchell's JD LeMay notched 12 saves in defeat. Nichols outshot the Mariners 46-18 as Bane fired off 17 shots. Darby Geno, Steven Oldakowski and Conrad Burke each tallied four ground balls for Nichols.

Mitchell will next play at Regis College on Saturday, April 18 at 4 p.m. A win over the Pride would clinch the top seed and the right to host the upcoming NECC Championship.
