FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -- The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team opened the 2017 season with a 23-2 loss at Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon.

McCarthy Brodaski accounted for both of Mitchell's goals, scoring once in the second quarter and once in the third. JD LeMay made five saves in goal against 49 shots.

Farmingdale scored 10 goals in the first quarter to seize control early. Brodaski opened the second-quarter scoring, but the Rams potted the next seven goals to lead 17-1 at halftime. Jackson Brockwell assisted on Brodaski's second goal early in the second half, but that would be the extent of Mitchell's offense on the day.

Ryan Wieczorek finished with five goals to lead Farmingdale. Joe Roach, Trevor Church and Zach Rudolph also netted hat tricks as the Rams improved to 1-0.

Mitchell will next play Albertus Magnus College at Connecticut College on Wednesday, March 1 at 2 p.m.
