LAX's Setzko, Brockwell Earn NECC Honors


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.

Sophomore Jacob Setzko was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman Jackson Brockwell was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped the Mariners to their first conference win of the season by an 11-6 final over Wheelock College on April 12.

Setzko scored a game-high four goals to go with an assist and four ground balls in the win. He is the second Mitchell player to earn player of the week honors in 2017, joining teammate McCarthy Brodaski (March 6). The second-year midfielder has played in nine games this season and leads the Mariners in scoring with 14 goals and six assists for 20 points. 

Brockwell earned rookie honors for the second time this season (March 6). He netted his first career hat trick to go with two assists and three ground balls against Wheelock. The rookie attackman has played in nine games this year and ranks third on the team in scoring with five goals and six assists for 11 points.

Mitchell (2-7 overall, 1-1 NECC) will next play at Becker College on Tuesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m.
