LAX's Marsh, Anderson Earn NECC Honors Again

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Mitchell College men's lacrosse players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.

Senior Kyle Marsh was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman Jacob Anderson was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped Mitchell to a 1-2 week that included a 12-11, come-from-behind overtime win at the College of Mt. St. Vincent.

Marsh earned player of the week honors for the third time this season (March 4, 18) and fourth time in his career. Anderson was a repeat honoree having earned the distinction for the second week in a row.

Marsh netted a team-high seven goals and added two assists over three games last week. He finished with a season-high five goals and recorded a pair of assists in a close loss at Purchase College. He then closed out the week with two scores at Mt. St. Vincent, both of which came in the final 2:14 of regulation to force overtime. Marsh also had six ground balls and two caused turnovers in the victory.

Anderson recorded five goals and four assists last week. He played a crucial part in the come-from-behind victory at Mt. St. Vincent, scoring a season-high five goals to go with one assist. His final tally was the OT winner, his second game-winning goal of the season.

Marsh has played in all eight games this season and leads the Mariners in scoring with 23 goals and eight assists for 31 points. Anderson has also seen action in all eight games and has recorded 11 goals and five assists for 16 points.

Mitchell (2-6 overall) will next host Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday, March 27 at 4 p.m.
