LAX's LePain Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Ethan LePain was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's lacrosse, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

LePain racked up a team-high 14 points over two games last week, scoring four goals to go along with 10 assists. He finished with two goals and five assists in each of Mitchell's final two league contests against Dean and Becker. He also added four ground balls against the Hawks as the Mariners picked up their first NECC win since 2017.

LePain, who plays attack, earns rookie honor for the first time this season. He is also the third Mitchell player to receive the distinction in 2019, joining teammates Nick Loris (Feb. 25) and Jacob Anderson (March 18, 25).

A starter in all 12 games this year, LePain finished a solid rookie campaign with 14 goals and a team-high 31 assists for 45 points. He ranked second on the team in scoring, and his 31 assists were the most in a single season in the program's history.

Mitchell ended the season with an overall record of 4-8 (1-2 NECC).
