Giovanniello Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore James Giovanniello was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's lacrosse, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

It marks the second straight week that a Mitchell player has earned the honor, as Tyler McManus garnered the distinction on March 2. Giovanniello recorded a pair of goals and an assist last week in a road game at Sage Colleges. He also scooped up four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers in the contest. 

A team captain and starter at attack, Giovanniello has played in all five games in the 2020 season. He ranks third on the Mariners in scoring with six goals and three assists for nine points, and his 14 ground balls are second-most on the team. 

Mitchell (1-4 overall) will next play at Regis College on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m.
