Men's LAX Falls to Suffolk County

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College dropped a 23-3 decision to Suffolk County CC on Sunday afternoon in a men's lacrosse exhibition.

Ten different Sharks found the back of the net on the day. Kyle Payne netted a game-high six goals and added an assist. Evan Bove added four tallies and a helper while Jason Baratta recorded a hat trick with two assists. 

Joe Schley paced the Mariners with two scores while Ethan LePain accounted for the other. Desmond Knowles scooped up a team-high four ground balls.

The Sharks netted the first 13 goals of the contest en route to the win. Schley's first goal came with 50 seconds remaining in the half, and the Mariners trailed 13-1 at the break.

Suffolk County was dominant at the faceoff spot, where Mike Carere won all 13 of his attempts. The Sharks went 19-for-28 at the X and held a 53-22 advantage in ground balls. Carere led all players with 14 ground balls.

Mitchell goalie Marcel Quinlan made nine saves against 32 shots on goal.

Mitchell will next host Anna Maria College on Wednesday, March 17 at 3 p.m.
