NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team failed to keep up with Johnson and Wales University on Wednesday afternoon, falling 19-0 in a GNAC showdown.
Donny McInnis, Brent Rickett, and Greg Centeio each registered a hat trick for the Wildcats. McInnus added six assists, while Jack Davis dished out four assists.
JWU opened the game with seven unanswered goals. Four more goals before halftime made it 11-0, and JWU added five more in the third frame.
Senior Weston Schumacher (Sherborn, Mass.) finished with two shots on goal, while freshman Cameron Haefs (Cary, Ill.) logged all 60 minutes in the cage and recorded 15 saves with four ground balls.
The Mariners (0-4, 0-3 GNAC) return to action on Wednesday, April 3, when they host Albertus Magnus College. The Wildcats (5-2, 3-0 GNAC) play next on Saturday, March 30th, at the University of Southern Maine.
