MEN'S SOCCER WIN THIRD IN A ROW OVER ANNA MARIA

The Anna Maria Men's Soccer Team lost to visiting Mitchell College today 3-2. Despite scoring first, the Amcats were mostly outplayed over the course of the match and fell behind 3-1 before scoring a late goal to make the game seem closer than it really was. Mitchell came to play and their intensity and passion to win was the difference in this one.

Freshman Ara Derderian (Worcester, MA) scored first for the hosts when he took a nice feed from Junior Colin Goguen (Littleton, MA) at the 23rd minute and calmly placed it in the back of the net. Mitchell was able to draw even eleven minutes later when Junior Josh DaSilveira (Milford, NH) converted a PK. Just 5 minutes later, Sophomore Peter Morano (New Canaan, CT) gave the visitors the lead when he scored off a well placed header at the 39th minute.

DaSilveira scored his second of the game in the 75th minute when he took a long feed from Junior Adam Deltgen (Norwich, CT) and beat Freshman Keeper Eric Perkins (Peabody, MA) to the short side. It would prove to be the winning goal as Freshman Ezelden Mahmoud (Shrewsbury, MA) scored his first collegiate goal with eight minutes left to play.

Perkins finished the game with 5 saves, while his counterpart Sophomore Ryan West ( New Britain, CT) finished with 8.

The Amcats drop to 3-6-1 (1-4-1TCCC) while Mitchell improves to 3-8-1.

Anna Maria returns to conference play Wednesday when they visit New England College and Mitchell travels to Montclair state.
