Men's Soccer Blanks Elms 2-0

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's soccer team earned
its second straight shutout on Saturday afternoon by a 2-0 final
over Elms College.
Mitchell (4-6-0 overall, 2-1-0 NECC) got two goals from junior
Jaime Serrano and six saves from sophomore goalkeeper Kevin
Woodford in the victory. Goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini was the
standout performer for Elms (3-9-0 overall, 1-3-0 NECC). He
finished with 10 saves in the contest, many of the spectacular
variety.
The Mariners went on top in the 26th minute when Serrano scored
from inside six yards off a deflected shot. He then added his
second goal in the 43rd minute off a pass from junior Will
Frohnoefer, burying a shot into the top-right corner of the goal.
Serrano, who has netted three goals and two game winners in his
last two games, now has five goals on the season.
Woodford made the margin stand in goal, recording his second
shutout of the season. The Mariners outshot the Blazers by a 28-11
margin.
Mitchell will next play at Connecticut College on Wednesday,
October 14 at 4:30 p .m.
