NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's soccer team lost 1-0 in overtime to Daniel Webster College on Sunday afternoon.

Daniel Webster (9-4-0 overall, 5-0-0 NECC) remained undefeated in conference play by scoring just 20 seconds into extra time. Senior Andre Garcia provided the game-winning goal, finishing off a long cross into the box for his second tally of the season.

Neither team could gain an advantage during the first 90 minutes of the contest. The Mariners (4-10-0 overall, 2-3-0 NECC) put four shots on goal but were turned away each time by sophomore keeper Joe Keene. Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Woodford turned away six shots for the Mariners in regulation.

Just 15 seconds into the extra session, the Mariners were hit with a costly yellow card that gave the Eagles an indirect kick from 35 yards out near right sideline. Alex Jackson served up a high cross to the front of the net, where Garcia pulled it down and knocked it in for the golden goal.

Prior to the contest, Mitchell honored its four seniors in a special ceremony. Chris White, Teddy Dixon and Blake Heredia all made the starting lineup for the final regular season home game of their careers. Alex Deltgen, who rounded out the group of four-year letterwinners, sat out the game with an injury.

Mitchell returns to action at Becker College on Tuesday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m. Daniel Webster will next play at Lesley University on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
