Men's Soccer Clinches NECC Berth with 1-0 Win at Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Mitchell College men's soccer team clinched the fifth seed in the upcoming NECC Championship with a 1-0 victory at Southern Vermont College on Saturday afternoon.

The Mariners (5-11-0 overall, 3-4-0 NECC) netted the game's only goal in the 58th minute of the foot of senior Teddy Dixon, his second goal of the season. The win earned Mitchell a return trip to Southern Vermont (10-7-1 overall, 3-3-1 NECC) on Wednesday, November 4 for the first round of the NECC Championship.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Woodford made four saves to preserve his third shutout of the season. Elias Skiff made three stops in goal for the Mountaineers.

Kickoff for Wednesday's semifinal match is slated for 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals to play at top-seeded Daniel Webster College on Sunday, November 8.
