Men's Soccer Falls 2-0 at Albertus Magnus


NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team scored two second-half goals to defeat Mitchell College, 2-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

Albertus (5-2-0 overall) controlled possession in the first half and outshot the Mariners (2-3-1 overall) by a 19-3 clip but could not find the back of the net until the second half of play.
Richard Mitchell scored his first career goal in the 71st minute to give the Falcons' a 1-0 advantage. The freshman connected on a loose ball in front of the net to score the eventual game winner.

In the 89th minute, Lindsley Barrett extended the Albertus lead to 2-0 as he scored his fourth goal of the season. Both scores for the Falcons were unassisted.

Donato Piroscafo made three saves in net for the Falcons in his shutout victory. On the year, the sophomore has made 40 saves in 619 minutes of work.

Jamal Howard led the Falcons with nine shots, including three on goal. Both Barrett and Jesse Plona added four shots apiece.

Senior Kevin Woodford made 11 saves in net for the Mariners. Albertus outshot Mitchell 28-9 on the afternoon to mark the most shots in a contest this season for the Falcons. The win is the fourth straight for the Falcons as well.

Mitchell will look to bounce back at home against Southern Vermont College on Saturday, September 24 at noon.
