Men's Soccer to Host Regis in NECC First Round


NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College will be the fourth seed in the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Championship and has earned the right to host a first round contest.

The Mariners will host fifth-seeded Regis College on Wednesday, November 5 at 2 p.m. Mitchell will be making its seventh straight appearance in the tournament while Regis will be making its third straight.

Top-seeded Elms College and second-seeded Daniel Webster College each received byes for the opening round. Elms will face the Mitchell/Regis winner while Daniel Webster will host the winner of third-seeded Lesley University and sixth-seeded Newbury College. All semifinal games will be held on Friday, November 7.

The conference's title game will be held on Sunday, November 9 at the site of the highest remaining seed. 

The NECC Men's Soccer Championship is a six-team, single elimination tournament. The winner will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

First Round - Wednesday, November 5
No. 6 Newbury at No. 3 Lesley
No. 5 Regis at No. 4 Mitchell 

Semifinals - Friday, November 7
Regis/Mitchell at No. 1 Elms
Newbury/Lesley at No. 2 Daniel Webster

Championship - Sunday, November 9
