Nigro Named NECC Player of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Andrew Nigro was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of men's soccer, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Nigro netted his first career hat trick as the Mariners remained unbeaten in NECC play with a 7-0 victory over Southern Vermont last week. His first goal, which ended up being the game winner, came in the eighth minute. He then added tallies in the 26th and 74th minutes to increase his goal total to four on the season.

Nigro earns NECC honors for the first time in his career. A team captain and starting midfielder, he has played in every game this season and is tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 points (four goals, two assists). 

Mitchell (4-5-1 overall, 2-0-0 NECC) will next host Johnson State College on Wednesday, October 7 at 3 p.m.
