Men's Soccer Seeded Sixth, Draws #3 Newbury


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College has earned the sixth seed for the 2015 New England Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Championship and will play a first-round game at third-seeded Newbury College on Wednesday, November 4.

The Mariners, who will be making their eighth straight appearance in the tournament, finished the regular season with a conference record of 4-4-0. Junior midfielder Andrew Nigro leads the team in scoring with nine goals and six assists for 24 points.

Daniel Webster College finished with a flawless 8-0 conference record to claim the regular season title and the tournament's top seed. The Eagles earned a first-round bye and will host a match in the semifinals on Friday, November 6. The two semifinals winners will meet in the NECC title game on Sunday, November 8, at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Daniel Webster was led by the reigning NECC Goalkeeper of the year Sean Hamilton, who finished the season ranked first in the conference with a save percentage of .857 and goals against average of 0.59. Teammate Ian Hutchinson led the conference in points with 27 (11g, 5a) on the season.  

Elms College earned the other first-round bye and the second seed in the tournament after finishing the season with a 6-2 regular season record. The Blazers took the spot away from Newbury (6-2) after beating them on October 13 in a double-overtime thriller.

The other NECC first round contest will feature Regis College at Lesley University at 8:00 p.m. Lesley took the fourth seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a 5-3 record.

Game 5: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner
