Veliz Named NECC Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College's Zavier Veliz was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's soccer, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Veliz netted his first collegiate goal last week as Mitchell picked up its first win of the season. The defender scored in an NECC matchup against Wheelock College, a contest the Mariners won by an 8-1 final.
Veliz is the first Mitchell men's soccer player to be honored by the conference in 2016. He has played in eight of 10 games this season while making four starts.
Mitchell (1-7-2 overall, 1-1-1 NECC) will next host Salve Regina University on Wednesday, October 12 at 3 p.m.
