Lone Goal Stands as Men's Soccer Downs Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 road victory against Becker College on Wednesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action at Alumni Field.

After a scoreless first half, Christian Urena broke the tie in the 57th minute when he weaved through defenders and netted his second goal of the year to put the Mariners on top. The lone goal stood thanks to a solid performance by goalkeeper Seth Strader and the Mitchell defense, which limited Becker to 11 shots in the contest. Strader finished with seven saves to record his third clean sheet of the season.

Urena has now scored game-winning goals in back-to-back league wins. The Mariners improved to 7-8 overall and 5-2 in NECC play with one game remaining in the regular season.

Mitchell will close out the regular season at Lesley University on Saturday, October 27 at 8 p.m. A win would secure second place in the NECC standings and a potential bye in the upcoming NECC Championship.
