Soccer's Strader Tabbed NECC Player of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Seth Strader was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of men's soccer, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Strader, a goalkeeper, posted a pair of shutouts last week as the Mariners closed out the regular season with two NECC road wins. He made seven saves in a 1-0 final over Becker College to start the week, and then followed with two stops in a 1-0 victory at Lesley University. The wins helped Mitchell secure the second seed and a first-round bye for the upcoming NECC Championship.

Strader, who earned the honor for the first time in his career, is the third Mitchell player to be recognized with the award this season. He has started all 16 games and played every minute in goal. In eight league games he has recorded four shutouts and posted a goals-against average of 0.97.

Mitchell (8-8-0 overall, 6-2-0 NECC) will host either sixth-seeded Lesley University or third-seeded Eastern Nazarene College in the semifinals of the NECC Championship on Friday, November 2.
