Soccer's Cortez named NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Julian Cortez was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's soccer, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.

Cortez registered his first collegiate point last week as the Mariners opened up the season against 24th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology. In the 80th minute he flicked on a throw-in to set up a goal that tied the game at 2-2.

Mitchell (0-1-0 overall) will next play at Connecticut College on Tuesday, September 3 at 4 p.m.
