NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College dropped a 5-1 decision to Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference men's soccer clash at Alumni Field.

Griffin Luczek scored a pair of goals to lead the Warriors, who remained unbeaten on the season at 6-0-0. Jake Szymko chipped in with a goal and an assist while Emmanuel Agyemang and Ryan Sirois each added tallies. Mitchell's lone goal came off the foot of Julian Cortez late in the contest.

Luczek put the visitors on the board in the 11th minute with his first goal of the day, finishing off a loose ball in the box to give the Warriors the early advantage. Eastern netted two more goals before the halftime whistle, as Agyemang scored on a penalty kick in the 30th minute and Sirois scored in the 43rd on a nice pass through the midfield by Szymko.

The Warriors added two goals in the second half to bump the margin to 5-0. The first came on yet another penalty attempt in the 57th minute, with Luczek converting for his second goal of the contest. Szymko then tacked on an insurance marker in the 70th minute off a slip pass in the box from Lucas Chaude.

Mitchell's goal came in the 82nd minute on a play that was set up by an Eastern foul. Eduardo Tineo served up a free kick into the box for Cortez, who delivered a beautiful left-footed scissor-kick from 15 yards out that found the right corner of the goal.

Kyle Boutot, Jack VanRooyen and Sam Alvis combined to make two saves in goal for the Warriors. Mitchell keeper Seth Strader finished with six stops while Michael Kennedy Jr. had one.

Mitchell (1-3-1 overall) opens up conference play at New England College on Saturday, September 21 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern returns to action at home against UMass Dartmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m.
