HENNIKER, N.H. -- The Mitchell College men's soccer team got off to a tough start to the New England Collegiate Conference slate, falling 2-1 in overtime at New England College on Saturday afternoon at Don Melander Field.

The Pilgrims netted the golden goal just 1:29 into the extra session as Wiskens Flavil found Panagiotis Galatas open in front of the goal for the winning header. Flavil also netted the game-tying goal earlier in the contest.

After a scoreless first half, Mitchell's Daniel Hotaling scored the game's first goal in the 68th minute off a feed from Nolan Clack. The margin lasted until the 79th minute when Flavil equalized for the home side.

Goalkeeper Seth Strader made seven saves in the loss, which dropped the Mariners to 1-4-1 overall (0-1-0 NECC).

Mitchell returns to action at Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday, September 24 at 4 p.m.
