Men's Soccer Earns Draw at Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Mitchell College battled Worcester State University to a 1-1 stalemate on Wednesday night in a non-conference men's soccer showdown.

Nolan Clack scored his first goal of the season to lead the Mariners, who moved to 0-2-1 overall on the season. Goalkeeper Dylan Kinsella made four saves and played all 110 minutes.

Mitchell got on the scoreboard in the 41st minute when Nick Forst connected with Clack for the game's first goal. Forst served up a ball from the left sideline while Clack slipped behind the back line. The junior midfielder met the ball at the top of the goalie box and sent a deflection past the keeper for the 1-0 advantage. It was the second goal of his career.

The Mariners nurtured the lead until the 77th minute, when an unassisted effort by Matt Alzamora skipped inside the right post and tied the game. Neither side managed a goal in the final 13 minutes of regulation or 20 minutes of overtime.

Mitchell will next host Nichols College on Monday, September 13 at 4 p.m.
