Men's Soccer Salvages Draw at Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Lesley University on Saturday night in a New England Collegiate Conference showdown at BBN Field.

The Mariners fell into a 1-0 hole early as Daniel Canellys scored in the 18^th minute. The Lynx held the margin until the 62^nd minute, when Nicholas Ghirardi finished off a feed from Dylan Lucey to tie the game. The goal was Ghirardi's first of the season and third of his career.

Mitchell put two shots on goal in extra time. Nolan Clack tested Lesley keeper Michael Bolduc in the first overtime period but was denied. Later, with less than two minutes remaining in the second bonus frame, Lucey headed a shot on frame that Bolduc punched over the crossbar.

Mitchell goalkeeper Joey Rosa finished with four saves, one of which came in overtime.

Mitchell (0-8-2 overall, 0-1-1 NECC) returns to action at Mass Maritime Academy on Tuesday, October 12 at 7 p.m.
