NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Mitchell College men's soccer team fell 1-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon to Eastern Connecticut State University.

Larson Richards netted the game's lone goal in the 65th minute, and the Warriors kept up the strong defensive pressure to secure the shutout.

Mitchell's Dylan Kinsella made 11 stops in goal, while Nick Ghirardi and Noslin Antunez were the lone Mariners to come away with shots against Eastern.

A physical battle throughout, the second half saw four yellow cards accessed as both squads played agressive and chippy on defense. The Warriors finally broke the scoreless tie when Andres Mayuri cleared the ball to Richards at the top of the Mitchell box. The senior then made his defender miss, which caused Kinsella to come out of net.

Moving to his left, Richards struck the ball with his left foot passed a diving Kinsella, finding the back of the net for what would end up being the deciding goal.

The Mariners (1-4-0) will be back at home on Saturday, when they take on Anna Maria at 12:00 pm.
