Men's Soccer Turned Back by ENC on Senior Day

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Mitchell College men's soccer team lost to Eastern Nazarene College 8-1 on Saturday in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup at Alumni Field. 

Clide Neau and Bryan Vargas each notched a pair of goals for the Lions, who improved to 5-6-4 overall and to 4-0 within the conference. Dylan Lucey scored the lone goal for the Mariners off an assist from Nolan Clack. It was the fifth goal of the season for the senior, tying him for the team lead.

Mattia Zuin put the visitors on the board first, scoring his third goal of the season in the 6th minute of the game. Neau added two goals before halftime, both unassisted, to give ENC a 3-0 lead heading into the intermission. Vargas then provided two goals within the first 10 minutes of the second half, while Samuel Rosas, Julio Lopez, and Josiah Milord each found the back of the net. 

Mitchell finished with 10 shots, eight on goal, and had four corner kicks. The Lions, meanwhile, fired off 24 total shots, 12 on goal, and tallied three corner kick opportunities. Joey Rosa made two saves for the Mariners and Nico Mantilla added a pair of saves. 

Mitchell (5-9-0 overall, 1-3 NECC) will host New England College on Wednesday at 3:00pm.
