Mitchell College Men Place 2nd, Women Place 3rd at Daniel Webster Invitational

Nashua, NH - September 19, 2008 - At the Daniel Webster Invitational, the first NECC conference race of the season, Mitchell Men's Cross Country Team placed 2nd and the Women's Cross Country placed 3rd.

John Hoffman (Bala Cynwyd, PA) finished in 3rd place with a time of 28:55 behind Kevin Horton of Daniel Webster and top finisher Herrel Siller Jr of Newbury College. Hoffman was 74 seconds off the lead and coach Todd Peretz feels that John could be a contender at the NECC Championships. Eric Appleby (Monroe, CT) finished in 6th place with at time of 29:54.

Mitchell College Women's Team was lead by Brittany Smyth (Winsted, CT) who finished in 6th place with a time of 23:16 and is within striking distance of top NECC runners. Placing 14th for the Mariners was freshman Michelle Bellemare (Durham, CT) with a time of 25:38.

The Mariners are on the road Friday, September 26 at the Rivier College Invitational.
