XC Teams Run at Conn College Invitational
WATERFORD, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's and women's
cross country teams competed at the Conn College Invitational on
Saturday at Harkness State Park.
Both teams finished in 18th place overall. Conn College bested the
19-team field on the men's side while Tufts took first place in the
18-team field for the women.
Leading the way for the Mariners in each race were seniors John
Hoffman and Brittany Smyth. Hoffman covered the 8-kilometer course
in a time of 28:11 and finished 128th overall, clipping 20 seconds
off his season-best time. Smyth crossed the finish line of the
6-kilometer race in 28:27 and finished 174th overall. It marked the
first time this season that the Mitchell women had run in a 6,000
meter event.
The Mitchell men's and women's cross country squads will next
compete at the 2010 NECC Championship on Saturday, October 30 at
Harkness State Park.
