XC's Ali Tabbed NECC ROW

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Sherif Ali was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's cross country, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

Ali turned in the best performance by a Mitchell runner at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational over the weekend. He finished 19th overall in the field of 92 runners and posted a time of 17:33 over the five-kilometer course. His time ranked as the third-fastest by a Division III runner at the meet, which also included teams from the Division I and II ranks.

The Mariners will next compete at the Mitchell Invitational on Friday, September 16 at Stenger Farm Park in Waterford, CT. Races begin at 4:30 p.m.
