XC's Burns Named NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Bridget Burns was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's cross country, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Burns recorded a third-place finish at the 2011 Mitchell Invite last week. She paced the Mariners with a time of 20:30.0 over the 4,667-meter course, marking the second time in as many races that she has turned in the fastest time by a Mitchell runner.

The Mariners will next compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, September 24 at Long Lanes Farm in Middletown, CT. Races begin at 11 a.m.
