XC Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regional
WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2012 NCAA New England Regional on Saturday morning at Westfield State University.
The Mitchell men finished 49th out of 50 teams in the 8k event. Junior Drew Castagna led the Mariners with a time of 30:43.74 and finished 269th overall. Also running for the men's squad were freshman Spencer Daniel (31:05.36), senior Zachary Hoch (31:54.09), and sophomores Michael Edwards (31:56.65) and Nick Longolucco (36:53.43).
On the women's side, freshman Sheilah Newcity capped a strong rookie season by leading the Mariners with a time of 28:01.77 in the 6k race. Junior Katie Buchanan (29:04.15) and sophomores Breanna Poirier (30:03.24) and Tierney Caulfield (31:07.15) also ran for Mitchell, which didn't register a team score with only four runners completing the race.
The NCAA Regional was the final event of the fall for each squad.
