XC Competes at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams each finished in second place at the Wesleyan Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Long Lane Farm.

Wesleyan captured first place in both races with 15 points. Mitchell finished with 45 points in the men's race and 50 points in the women's.

Senior Drew Castagna led the men's team and finished eighth overall in the field of 18. He crossed the finish line in a time of 26:05.5 to set the pace for his teammates. On the women's side, sophomore Sheilah Newcity was the first Mitchell runner across the line at 22:52.2, good enough for ninth overall in the field of 17.

Mitchell will next run at the Elms Invitational on Saturday, September 28 at 11 a.m.
