Season-Best Times Highlight Tri-State Invitational

LINCOLN, R.I. -- The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams ran at the Tri-State Invitational on Saturday morning. The men finished eighth out of 10 teams while the women came in seventh out of seven.

Wheaton College won both the men's and women's races and also had the individual medalists on each side. John Green won the men's 8k race in a time of 27:25.41 while Sonrisa O'Toole captured the women's 5k event in 20:06.20.

Leading the way for the Mariners were freshman Tim Hoch and sophomore Sheilah Newcity. Hoch clocked in with a season-best time of 31:38.46, just ahead of sophomore Spencer Daniel (31:47.32). Newcity crossed the finish line in 22:39.55, also her best time of the season.

The Mariners will next run at the Conn College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park on October 19.
