XC Gears Up at Conn College Invitational


WATERFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Conn College Invitational on Saturday morning at Harkness Memorial State Park.

Both Mitchell squads finished 21st overall. Keene State earned the victory on the men's side while Conn College's Michael Leduc was the individual medalist at 24:54. Tufts took home first place in the women's race while Stevens Institute's Amy Regan crossed the tape in 21:29 to lead the field.

Sophomore Spencer Daniel led the Mitchell men with a time of 30:40 over the 8k course. Junior Michael Edwards finished in 31:13 while freshman Timothy Hoch was close behind at 31:35. Freshman Samuel Williams and junior Adam Oshrain rounded out the scoring for the Mariners with times of 31:40 and 32:01, respectively.

On the women's side, sophomore Sheilah Newcity completed the 6k course in a time of 27:51 to lead Mitchell. Senior Katie Buchanan broke the 29-minute mark with a time of 28:50, and juniors Bridget Burns and Tierney Caulfield came in under 30 minutes at 29:57 and 29:58, respectively. Freshman Morghan Moroney rounded out the scoring with a time of 32:13.

Mitchell will next run at the NECC Championship on Saturday, October 26 at Chicopee Memorial State Park in Chicopee, Mass.
