Men's XC Opens Season at Trinity Invitational


MANCHESTER, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's cross country team opened the 2016 season at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday morning at Wickham Park.

The Mariners finished seventh out of eight teams with a score of 213. Fitchburg State University placed first overall with a team total of 39.

Newcomer David Still paced the Mariners with a time of 19:38 over the 5k course, the fastest time recorded by a Mitchell runner at the Trinity event since 2011. He finished 38th overall in the field of 80 runners.

Nick Lebron (22:34), George Sykes (24:09), Axel DeJesus (24:29), Evan Kristal (29:05) and Tyler Prugh (39:47) also competed for Mitchell. 

The Mariners will next host the Mitchell Invitational on Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. For the first time in the event's history, the race will be held on campus and the course will wind through the newly renovated Mitchell Woods.
