XC Gets One Final Tune-Up at Suffolk

BOSTON – In the penultimate meet of the season, the Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams each posted a 13th-place finish at the Suffolk Invite on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.

The Mariners used the event to prepare for the upcoming conference championship, which will take place on October 27. Two other New England Collegiate Conference institutions competed at Suffolk–Newbury College and Lesley University–and Mitchell finished ahead of both of them in the team standings in each race.

David Still paced the men's squad with his first sub 30-minute effort of the fall. He crossed the finish line in 28th place in a time of 29:11 and was the first NECC runner to complete the 8k course. Just over a minute behind him was teammate Mark Garceau, who placed 49th overall with a season-best time of 30:23. Evan Kristal (39:48), Jacob Scott Sharland (39:51) and Ajibola Majoyeogbe (39:57) completed the scoring for the Mariners.

Paige Aguilar continued to run well for the Mitchell women, completing the 5k course in 23:09 to place 54th overall. She was the second NECC runner to cross the tape, trailing only Lesley's Nicole Footer (22:34). Kate McCormack (24:12), Sharmaine Gregor (26:21), Grace Burns (26:49) and Francesca Pinard (28:40) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners.
